The Goal of Live Sound

Simply put the purpose of live sound is for the audience to hear and feel the music as the musicians on stage want their music to be heard. That is the real goal of the entire endeavor.

Sometimes this means that if a musician has a particular vision, and you know it won’t work, finding some wiggle room to make it sound good. But staying true to the musicians is key.

So what does this mean for us in terms of drums? Well we are not trying to change the inherent sound of the whole kit, but rather enhance. If we are doing it right, in a venue this sized, the audience might not even know that the kit had microphones at all. Enhancement is not changing, but rather keeping the style, just adding power to the kit.
